Recap: The Makeup Show Holiday Pop Up Shop @Themakeupshow #recap #newpost

So over the weekend I got to check out the Makeup Show’s Holiday Pop-Up Shop, a curated selection of beauty brands showcasing their stuff and selling at discounted prices for the holidays.  Unlike the actual Makeup Show it was a much smaller and private setting (which I actually enjoyed).

If like me you avoid chaos and crowds, this event would have been right up your alley.  I got to check out the always sweet, James Vincent talk about some of his go-to products at the show, and Smashbox Cosmetics very own Lori Taylor gave us the inside scoop on what its like to work for a beauty powerhouse brand and gave some insight into the life of a pro MUA.

Although I didn’t go to splurge I did end up getting some stuff, I will also note there were some amazing and worthy mentions such as Static Nails, Ellis Faas, the ever awesome Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and even Eve Pearl (wish I would have been able to get something from every booth honestly).  Other bigger brands that were offering huge discounts were Smashbox, Makeup Forever and Stila Cosmetics.

So here’s a recap in pictures, with cute little descriptions (just so you can feel as though you were there with me) :

I got the sanitary wipes, the Cake Batter Scent Brush Cleaner from Beauty So Clean.  Also purchased some fun stickers and the cutest compacts from Breakups to Makeup.  I fell in love with the Gleam By Melanie Mills Radiant Dust.  Lastly I got myself 6 brushes from Crown Brushes at ridiculously low prices (I paid about $22 for all 6).

The Beauty So Clean line specializes in products that help sanitize your makeup.  The Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist is used on powder products to disinfect.  The wipes are used on creams and lipsticks and the Scented Cake Batter mist is to surface clean the brushes.  I am a huge germaphobe so of course this was one of the first products I purchased.

These 6 brushes I purchased from the awesome people over at Crown Brushes.  From Left to right I have: C457, a smaller synthetic blending brush (don’t have the number for that one, sorry), C330 Pro Blending Crease Brush, C441 Pro Blending Crease Brush, IB132 Stiff Brow Brush and the IB129 Taklon Mini liner.

MelanieMillsGleam

I am a sucker for ANYTHING that promises to give me that JLo glow (as I now refer to it).  And the Gleam by Melanie Mills Radiant Dusts keep their promise.  These bronzers are made from crushed pearls and have hydrating elements like aloe vera. The set includes the dust in Bronze Gold, Rose Gold, Light Gold and Deep Gold.  I love these and I can see myself running out super quickly and having to repurchase! Love Love LOVE.

Breaksups to Makeup

Last but not least, I got to meet Angelique, the owner and kick-ass female behind the cool trinkets at Breakups To Makeup. I fell in love with their assortment of makeup bags, t-shirts, headbands, stickers and phone cases all which cater to the crazy makeup addict in all of us.  I bought the cute compact, because I am a New Yorker and well why the hell not? And I also got the 7 stickers with the sayings that launched Breakups to Makeup into the limelight.  Make sure you check them out, Angelique is a serious sweetheart!

The Holiday Pop-Up shop was super fun! Make sure you check out The Makeup Show for the schedule to their upcoming major events in NYC, Orlando, LA, Chicago and Dallas!

P.S. I was also able to get every issue of On Makeup Magazine from the Powder Group for FREE! Such a steal! Such great mags, with lots of industry info, profiles and news!
