#TMWdoesNYFW Day Five: Skin

We are rolling through the fashion week shows and throughout its entirety it seems as though every designer had a beauty look in common, a huge emphasis on skin. Not to say that the girls are walking around with their buttcheeks hanging out (although a runway throwback of the 90s wouldn’t hurt); consistently spring/summer collections focus on clean, dewy, sexy summer skin.

This spring season is no different with the clean, edgy looks at Public School, the Bardot inspired makeup at Rachel Zoe and the gorgeous dew on the models at Rebecca Minkoff… It’s all about the focus on clear skin and minimal makeup.

So what products do makeup artists turn to when recreating the beauty trend of spring?

A good, multi-use foundation like the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, doubles as a concealer and can be thinned out into a foundation with a wide range of coverage. This foundation has been a cult-favorite for years and is a staple in makeup bags like Kim Kardashian’s. I like to thin it out with primer for an all day glow that stays on till you wipe your makeup off!

Wanna take the dew to the next level? A highlighter is the pro makeup artist’s secret weapon! You can go cream, liquid or powder, and can use highlighters for only a pinch of sun kiss or highlighters that create the high beam effect of recently sweated out skin. Lately I’m in love with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Peach Nectar! It’s gives off a peachy radiance that compliments the skin beautifully and gives off a “I just tanned” hint of color.

With the amount of shoulders, legs and clavicles being exposed on the runway, it’s safe to say we want the radiance on our faces to also transfer over to our skin! We all lust after that JLo leg glow and who doesn’t lust for skin that looks like it’s been on a few trips to a beach in Hawaii? My go-to skin luminizint product comes from my friends at Beauty For Real. The Total Glo combines the moisturizing benefits of a cream and the illuminating effects of a bronzer with a subtle hint of color! This stuff makes your skin look like a Victoria’s Secret model. No lie! What’s best?! It even works on the face! How about that for multi-tasking?
